Itinerary

Day 1 Monday 15th July 2019

Relax and enjoy our scheduled flight from London Gatwick to Barcelona.

Today we will have a private coach and driver to accompany us for our half-day excursion outside the city.

Barcelona

Sprawled between the beaches of the Mediterranean and the hills of Montjuïc, Barcelona is a city whose personality bursts at every natural seam. The capital of Catalonia, Barcelona is also known as the country’s most progressive city, always on the cutting-edge of European art, fashion and cuisine. What’s more, its energy is unparalleled, with hundreds of bars, restaurants, cafes and clubs. The city is characterized by the work of Antonio Gaudí, whose unique worldview created some of Europe’s most distinctive architecture. This beautiful city charms visitors at every turn with its vibrant spirit.

Walking Tour of Barri Gòtic (Gothic Quarter)

Explore the narrow streets and squares of the Barri Gòtic (Gothic Quarter). This is the city’s oldest quarter, parts of which have survived from the Middle Ages. A few highlights of the walk will include the Plaça del Pi, the Plaça de Sant Felip Neri, and the magnificent Plaça Sant Jaume.

For the next 4 evenings our base will be a Barcelona hotel, where daily breakfast and dinner will be included.

Day 2 Tuesday 16th July 2019

Barcelona cathedral, Barcelona, Spain

We will travel by private coach today.

Funicular Ride of Montjuïc

Explore Barcelona’s mountain of Montjuïc, the focal point of two of the city’s key international events: the World’s Fair of 1929, of which many structures still remain; and the 1992 Olympic Games. Montjuïc features the largest "green zone" in the city with miles of forests and parks. We begin with a Funicular Ride from the Parallel Metro Stop to Miramar Avenue.

Castell de Montjuïc

Walk to the Castell de Montjuïc. Along the way, we will pass the famous statue of La Sardana, featured on many postcards of the city, depicting the traditional Catalan dance. At the castle, we will wander along the Terraces and high points of the star-shaped fortress-castle, as well as the walkways that surround it, all while enjoying breathtaking views of the Barcelona skyline and the Mediterranean.

Barcelona Cathedral

Visit Barcelona Cathedral, a celebrated example of Catalonian Gothic architecture. The three naves, cleaned and illuminated, have splendid Gothic details, and the large bell towers perfectly blend medieval and Renaissance styles. The beautiful cloister, high altar, side chapels, sculptured choir, and Gothic arches highlight one of the most impressive cathedrals in Spain.

Take a visit to Camp Nou, the home ground for Barcelona's biggest and most popular team, and one of Europe's greatest footballing 'cathedrals'. FC Barcelona are the only major football club in the world that doesn't sell advertising space on its strip, and this is because the club does not want to spoil the aesthetics of its famous red and blue jersey. Camp Nou is the biggest stadium in Europe with a capacity of 98,600 people, and it also has shops and a museum of the club's history.

Free Time

Enjoy free time relaxing on the beach and swimming in the warm sea water.

Day 3 Wednesday 17 July 2019

casa mila, Barcelona, Spain

We will travel by private coach today.

La Sagrada Familia

Experience the cathedral of La Sagrada Familia, Antoni Gaudí’s incomplete masterpiece and one of the more distinctive creations of Spain.

Casa Batlló

Tour Casa Batlló, designed by Gaudí in 1905. Through curves of iron and stone, the architect gave the facade a lavish baroque exuberance. The balconies have been compared to sculpted waves, and the upper part of the facade evokes animal forms. The lower floor is currently the headquarters of an insurance company, so we will discreetly walk inside for a view of Gaudí’s interior, still preserved as he designed it.

Casa Milà

Explore Casa Milà, commonly called “La Pedrera,” the most famous apartment-house complex in Spain. Antoni Gaudí’s imagination went wild when planning its construction, even including vegetable and fruit shapes in his sculptural designs. Ascend to the rooftop, filled with unique chimneys known in Spanish as espantabrujas (witch-scarers), which affords a view of Gaudí’s La Sagrada Familia and the L’Eixample area of the city. We will also visit the Espai Gaudí in the attic, which features an intriguing multimedia display of the works of the controversial artist.

Gaudi’s Parc Güell

Explore Gaudi’s Parc Güell, one of the most surreal parks you will have ever seen. The park contains amazing stone structures, stunning tiling and fascinating buildings.

Day 4 Thursday 18th July 2019

Port Aventura Theme Park

We will travel by private coach today.

Take a visit to the Universal Studios Port Aventura theme park. This unique park has five themed areas: the enchanting Mediterrania, exotic polynesia, the ancient civilization of China, festive Mexico and the wild far west. The many attractions include the amazing Dragon Khan roller coaster and the 100-metre freefall drop of the Hurakan Condor.

Day 5 Friday 19th July 2019

Commercial airplane flying above clouds in dramatic sunset light.

Our private coach will transfer us to the airport for our departure.

Relax and enjoy our scheduled flight from Barcelona to London Gatwick.
