Day 1 - Saturday 9th February 2019 - Outward Journey

Relax and enjoy our scheduled flight from Edinburgh to Delhi.

Day 2 - Sunday 10th February 2019 - New Delhi

Meeting-and-assistance on arrival and garlanding at New Delhi International Airport. Transfer to hotel.

Overnight at the hotel.

Meals: Lunch and dinner.

Day 3 - Monday 11th February 2019 - Qutub Minar

This morning we will visit Old Delhi including a cycle-rickshaw ride inside the narrow alleyways of the old city. Drive past Chandni Chowk- the crowded bazaar (silver street ) of Old Delhi, Red Fort - Built in 1648, this sprawling fort of red sand stone along the river Yamuna is surrounded by a wall of about 2.4 km circumference. It was built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan, Raj Ghat memorial of Mahatma Gandhi (Father of the Nation) and Jama Masjid (mosque), built by the Mughal Emperor Shahjahan, it is the largest and one of the most magnificent mosques in India.

New Delhi, India’s capital city, with a thousand years of history, is a city of contrasts that combines a unique ambience of the ancient and the modern. An orderly plan of wide roads lined with sturdy colonial buildings, which was established soon after the imperial capital of British India moved here from Calcutta in 1911.

Afternoon, sightseeing of New Delhi. Visit the Qutub Minar, a Tower of Victory which was built in the 12th century by Qutbuddin Aibak. Within its spacious courtyard stands the Iron Pillar, which dates back to the 4th century AD and bears a Sanskrit inscription in the Gupta style. The pillar has puzzled scientists, as its iron has not rusted in all these centuries. Drive past to India Gate, the memorial of the First World War.

Day 4 - Tuesday 12th February 2019 - Rishikesh 


Transfer to the railway station to board train from Delhi to Haridwar.

Leave New Delhi: 0645 hrs Arrive Haridwar: 1122 hrs

Meeting and assistance on arrival and transfer to your hotel.

Drive to Rishikesh (22 km / 40 min)

The town of Rishikesh lies in the foothills of the Himalayas also known as the “Place of Sagas” is a spiritual town situated 24 kms upstream from Haridwar at the confluence of the Chandrabhaga and Ganga and surrounded by scenic beauty of the hills on three sides.

The best way to explore Rishikesh is on foot as the town is hilly and consists of narrow lanes. We will spend a full day exploring the surroundings and we will also visit a traditional Garhwali village.

This afternoon we will spend some time walking around Haridwar. Located at the point where the Ganges emerges from the Himalaya, Haridwar (also called Hardwar) is Uttarakhand’s holiest Hindu city, and pilgrims arrive here in droves to bathe in the fast-flowing Ganges. Haridwar is among the seven holy destinations for Hindus.

Evening, attend the Ganges Aarti ceremony at Haridwar.

Day 5 - Wednesday 13th February 2019 - Agra

Early morning, transfer to the railway to board train for Delhi.

Leave Haridwar: 0622 hrs Arrive New Delhi: 1122 hrs

On arrival, lunch at a local restaurant.

Later, drive to Agra (210 km / 4.5 hrs).

Overnight at the hotel.

Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Day 6 - Thursday 14th February 2019 - Taj Mahal

Home to one the Seven Wonders of the World the Taj Mahal, many visit to admire its beauty. Right from the epic Mahabharata to the Mughal Dynasty, Agra has been monumental and has played a significant role in shaping India’s history. What also shaped Agra’s culture were the different religions that were born and flourished here.

This morning we will visit the Taj Mahal one of the seven wonderers of the World. Built by Shaha Jahan (Mughal Emperor) for his beloved wife Mumtaz.

After lunch at a local restaurant, we will proceed to Agra Fort, built by the great Mughal Emperor Akbar in 1565 A.D. the fort is a masterpiece of design and construction. Within the fort are a number of exquisite buildings.

Day 7 - Friday 15th February 2019 - Delhi


After breakfast we will start our drive back to Delhi.

On route we will drive to the Agra Bear Rescue Facility. You will be taken on a guided tour by the volunteers at the facility. The Agra Bear Rescue Facility is the largest Sloth Bear Rescue Facility in the world. Observe how a small group of individuals inspired to start a movement and make a lasting change to protect and conserve India’s natural heritage, forest and wildlife wealth.

Later, drive on to Delhi (200 km / 4 hrs).

Day 8 - Saturday 16th February 2019 - Return Journey


Morning, after breakfast, transfer to the airport to board flight for home.

Relax and enjoy our scheduled flight from Delhi to Edinburgh.
